Excel Mouse-Select Cell Problem

In excel when you click on a cell, the program acts like the mouse button is stuck down. When you move the mouse, it tries to select more cells. I can’t access the menus using the keys. I am using win2k with office 2k. The problem exists in all profiles. I have removed and re-installed office. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the mouse.
