EXCEL not opening files

I have a user that is using NT 4.0 workstation and EXCEL 2000 Professional. When an EXCEL attachement or save file on the user’s hard drive is clicked on, EXCEL opens and then displays a blank grey screen. There are no error messages. I can however open any EXCEL file by first starting EXCEL and then going to file open. Any fix would be greatly appreciated.
