Excel not saving column width changes

By jolene.huntly@wizjatv.co. ·
I have a spreadsheet that I change the column width on, then save the changes to it but the next time I open it the changes have not been saved. The same spreadsheet when I copy a sheet the resulting copy has smaller column widths, and the more copies I produce the smaller the column widths get. Please help as I have tried everything but to no avail.

If the file does not have any formulas, or if you can easily recreate them, I suggest a very low tech solution. Open the file, select the spreadsheet by clicking on the square to the right of column A, copy, open a new workbook, select edit, paste special, then select values.

Another low-tech idea: copy the column, & paste special, value into a blank column in the worksheet, delete the orginal column, insert a column & paste back the data.

Also, if you are running any macros, it might beworth checking out the coding to see if this is your cause.
