I am experiencing an intermittent problem on starting up Excel. When Excel opens up, and the matrix of cells is clicked upon, for some reason, where you click seems to ?anchor? the cursor, such that as the cursor is moved around on the screen, a rectangular area is highlighted. I cannot seem to get out of this ! I have to end the programme by closing the programme via Ctr-Alt-Del, and then re-starting the programme. This may happen several times before Excel will function properly, or indeed, I often give up and try again another day.
I am running Excel 2000 on Windows 98. There are no backgrounds programmes running that would interfere with Excel. I have ?repaired? the software using the onscreen facility and the original disks, to no avail. I have deleted the whole Microsoft Office suite of programmes and then re-installed, but the problem returns. I have even installed Excel 97, which I know works on a different PC, and get the same problem. A real mystery to me ! Can you help ?
