Excel Problems

I have a problem with Excel 2000 on a users PC

If you open excel and click new it opens a blank sheet, if you click file open and open a document it opens the document, but if you find the document in My Computer and double click on it, excel opens but empty, no blank sheet, just the grey screen with a few menu options avaliable. As if you open excel and close all sheets.

any ideas would be great

Open Excel. Click on "Help" on the toolbar. Select "Detect and Repair", check the box that says "restore my shortcuts".

This may occir if the "Ignore other applications setting in Excel is selected"

To resolve this problem, follow these steps: 1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. Click the General tab.
3. Click to clear the Ignore other applications check box, and then click OK.
After you do this, you should be able to open workbooks by double-clicking them in Windows Explorer.
