Excel: Update No. with a Click

Is it possible in Excel to simply "click" in a cell and have the number update; i.e., first click would be number "1" -- click again and it updates to "2", etc.

i don't see any way to attach code to an 'on click' event in a cell...would it work if user clicked 'button', not cell?

John Walkenbach and Malcolm McKinnon have an interesting approach. They create a transparent square over the cell that invokes a macro.
