Excel2007 - Sharing Violation error

By manoj.kohli ·
Hi, When I try to save an Excel spreadsheet in using Excel 2007, I get the following error:
"The document was saved successfully, but Excel cannot re-open it because of a sharing violation. Please close the document and try to open it again"
I am using Windows XP SP2; User has Read/Write (No Append/ No Delete access) and Creator Owner has No Append Data access.

Is there a way to get rid of this message?
Thanks.

Was that "saved successfully" the original file creation?

Are you sure the file isn't still open somewhere?

No

Original file is in a Read Only folder and user does a SAVE AS, in a different folder where he/she has a READ/WRITE (No Delete) access.

Thanks for your quick response.

I can't go any deeper than the links provided. (+ MS page added)

You can try the SP1 fix, tweaking your anti-virus or other security software, or check for other network issues.

The file that won't re-open: is it the original, the user's copy, or both?

edit:
Maybe have a look here as well.
