About two months ago two seperate clients started noticing that spreadsheets (Excel 97) were not printing correctly when sent to HP Laserjet 5, 2300 series or 4000 series printers. Using postscript instead of PCL eliminated the problems. On printers without postscript if we use the Windows 2000 HP driver at 300 DPI Excel will print correctly about 90% of the time. The most dominate printer error is printing the first third of a page and them stopping. Most of the spreadsheets contain at least one macro. Using the latest HP drivers do not have any effect on the problem. (The Windows 2000 driver is used becuase it was easier for the clients to find the 300 x 300 DPI default.
This problem exhibits itself on network shared printers, HP Jetdirect shared printers and local printers using TCP/IP port.
Both clients are using Windows 2000 Servers up-to-date with are updates EXCEPT SP-4. Also both servers are using Symantec Anti Virus Enterprise on the server and clients desktops and Windows 2000 Professional on the desktop.
Does anyone know of any changes to Windows Server, Desktop; Symantec or anything else that might explain this problem.
