excel.exe Illegal oper print preview

While trying to print preview in Excel 2000 get an excel.exe caused an illegal operation and will be shut down. Excel closes and you have to restart the computer to reopen the document. I have tried changing display settings, changed the default printer. Does anyone have any ideas.
