Excel’s Processing Speed

I have just got a new laptop (Toshiba Portege 4010 P3 500Mb RAM Windows/Office 2000) and should be a lot more powerful than my old one. However, I have noticed that Excel’s calculation speed is really slow compared to my old Win 95 machine, in fact it is doubling the time I used to spend on certain tasks.

Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to increase the processing power attributed to Excel?
