Exch Client not redirected to new server

By TicTech ·
Hi all,
After moving all mailboxes from SiteA (Server1) to SiteB (Server2), I remove all the Site Connectors to SiteB and deleted Server2 using SiteA Exchange Administrator. KCC successfully carried out but when the user log on to email, the exchange profile does not redirect the client to point to Server1 causing the user unable to open the mailbox.
Why the exchange profile isn't updated automatically while Server2 still alive. What can I do to change all the users' exchange profile to point to Server1 instead of the original Server2?
Thank you in advance.

You have to download and run an app from Microsoft called ModProf. It can be found in the Office Resource Kit Toolbox. Her is the link:

Worked for me.

Thanks....I wonder why the profile was not updated automatically....Due to the mixed-mode clients used by the users (97/2000/XP/2003), any idea how to do propogate the changes to the users upon logon by using the Group Policy Object?

Tentatively, what I should have done to avoid this to happen (that the user profile can be updated automatically upon log-on)?

I believe that you took Server2 offline too soon. If I recall correctly, when an outlook client logs in for the first time after a mailbox move, the client looks to Server2 for the mailbox. It's Server2 that would have redirected the client to the correct location. So to answer your question of what should have been done differently, it would be to leave Server2 online for a few days to redirect production users as they log in after the mailbox move. Remove Server2 after a few production days, and then there would only be a handful of production users that may have been on vacation or whatever that you would have had to deal with.

Hi,

You are absolutely hooper.
After the mailboxes have been moved from one server to the other, both the servers need to be online for some time.

IT is only the first time the users login to their mailboxes in outlook that they are redirected from the old server to the new server.

The best option would be just do a check name on all the client machines or change the new server name to what the old exchange server.

Regards
