Exchagne 5.5

By javaid7 ·
I have installed exchange 5.5 in the Head Office and downloading emails from ISP and then distributing to other users in my company. Three employees are located remotely and need to access and download their emmails to their local machines.

I would appreicate if any one could help me to achive this goal. I have limited knowledge of exchnager server and need urgent support.

I thought about OWA,I have never worked with it but beleive it does not allow users to download the email but view only. Second, OWA need high speed connection, meanwhile I have dialup connection in the HO as well as remote locations.

Please help

You will need to turn on the pop3 service for exchange.

This will allow your remote users to connect to the exchange server using a pop3 e-mail account and download the mail to thier computers.

They will need to know the external IP address that will get them connected to the exchange server.

All OWA is a webpage version of the Outlook client. in Ex5.5 its Very VERY basic, however it improves with 2000 & 2003.

Your best bet would be to set up the users with Offline folder ability. This was they Sync all their email into a OST file which is stored on there local systems, they can then read emails when they are not connected to the Server, and the server also has a copy of all their email should the OST file die for some unlikley reason.

This line should show you how to setup OST Files.
