Exchange 2000

I need to know how to move mailboxes to a new Exchange 2000 server and also move the public folders. Then how do I reconfigure the client side. Do I need to worry anything else. I tried but could not configure the client side;it could not find the new server;something about not having a catalog server. Can anyone help me?
Im not worried about my mistake because I did it in a test environment.
