Exchange 2000 – Transferring Data

by esherwood . Updated 23 years, 1 month ago

Exchange 2000 Server is currently on Server A. I am setting up a new server, Server B. Server B is going to become the new Exchange 2000 server and will be in the same domain as Server A. After server B is set up, Server A will be taken off line. The domain controller is Server C and I’m not doing anything to it.

I have some questions about transferring Exchange between servers.

1. I understand that the Exchange 2000 profiles are stored in Active Directory (let me know if I’m wrong on that). Since Server C is not being changed, will Server B be able to access the profiles?

2. Do I still need to run ForestPrep and DomainPrep on Server B?

2. How do I transfer all the Exchange data (e.g. mailboxes, configuration settings) from Server A to Server B?
