Exchange 5.5 Admin capabilities

By brian.skarbek ·
Is there any code or documentation on the web to programmatically administer a Exchange 5.5 in VB? CDO only offers accesibility to the client functions as well as an individual mailbox properties. I'm more interested in capturing exchange server statisitics.

Exchange 5.5 Admin capabilities

ADSI will offer you this. ADSI is Active Directory Service Interface. Not many people know that Active Directory in 2000 is in fact an improved and extended version of Exchange 5.5 Active Directory.
ADSI offers you a common interface to access and manipulate objects. If will allow you to do programing from VB. Just check MSDN for programming references. Vendors like Fenestrae (Faxination) use this to integrate their products with Exchange. Above all, this experience will prove very usefull administering WIn2k alter on.

Radu

I would start at http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/downloads/EDK.htm.

Here's an excerpt from that page:

Summary
-------
The refresh of the Microsoft Exchange Server Developer's Kit, which is part of the Microsoft Platform Software Development Kit, provides a new build environment, new documentation, and new COM components that make it easier to build powerful solutions on the Microsoft Exchange Server platform. This document outlines each of these new enhancements and their functionality.

Included in this document:

New Build Environment
Updated Documentation
New C/C++ Development Examples
New Visual Basic/ASP Samples

I hope this helps.
