I’m experimenting with some direct email software, and am having trouble getting it to send email. It can’t connect to our SMTP server to send the email. I suspect the problem has something to do with the below. How do you enable Relaying on Exchange 5.5? Are there any good sources about Relaying and setting it up? Thanks.
Microsoft Exchange Users: When configuring the SMTP section of Exchange Server, be sure that Campaign is allowed to “Relay” email. By default, Exchange’s SMTP will only allow email to be sent to local domain email addresses and will not relay message to other domains. There are several ways to allow Exchange Server to relay email, see your mail administrator to set up relaying. Even though you may be able to send emails using Outlook to people outside your domain that does not mean Campaign will. Outlook’s connection to Exchange is not an SMTP connection thus it does not use the same rules as the SMTP server in Exchange.
