Exchange 5.5 "unable to open email..."

By athomas ·
Hi. I work with a three domain environment, using NT 4.0 all around. Exchange server 5.5 sits in one of the domains, and all workstations have access to it just fine. All trust relationships work as they are supposed to. All resources and shareddrives can be seen and work throughout the various domains. My problem is this- recently, any new workstation that I bring online, after setting up an email account in domain "B", gives me this message when attempting to open outlook 2000:

"unable to open your default email folders. you do not have permission to log on"

I can log on as a user from domain "A" from said workstation, and use outlook without any problems, but I cannot logon a user from the "B" domain and access email. The "B" user has the ability to do everything else concievable over the network. Any help is greatly appreciated...

If the Exchange 5.5 is in domain A and the user account is in Domain B go into the exchange admin and pull up the mailbox. On the permissions tab add the user account from that domain B. I had a simular problem and that fixed it.
