Exchange 5.5 w/dynamic IP address?

anyone know if it’s possible to use Exchange 5.5 in an lan, connected to the internet by a dynamically assigned ip address, where the actual domain is hosted elsewhere? perhaps a way to make Exchange pull email from a standalone domain server elsewhere?
