Exchange- can’t start POP3 or IMAP

Please help. I had to reinstall Exchange 2000 today.

After doing that and running the service pack, the IMAP and POP3 services have red “X”s on them.

When I try to manually start them I get an error message, and tells me to check the Event viewer. The warning at the event view says:

“An error occurred while starting the Microsoft Exchange POP3 Service: server instance number 1 failed to start with error 0x800cc801. ”

Furthermore, no one can relay through our SMTP service.

Please help, this is very important.
