exchange files cleanup

i have an exchange2000 server. i exported the size list for all mailboxes and got a sum. but the sum(5G) is much lesser than the size(9G) of the priv1.edb file in the exchange folder. what is the problem? since it seems i can’t get accurate size of the mailboxes.
