Exchange Folder Rules

By gbainbridge ·
I've got a couple of public folders set up on our Exchange 5.5 SP3 server where critical e-mails are sent.

One of the folders is for "tier 1" support. They will recieve all the messages, then screen them and forward messages they can't handle to the "tier 2" folder. When messages appear in the 2nd tier folder, a page is sent to the person on call.

Here's the issue: the 1st tier support staff is not on hand 24 hours a day. After, say 5 pm, we want those messages automatically forwarded to the 2nd tier mailbox, so the on call person can be paged. I've looked into the rules for the public folder, and it allows this kind of scheduling, but not based on hours of the day, only dates in the calendar.

How can I accomplish what I need to have done?

You probably can do this with a little scripting, and using the Event Service.

is a good starting point.
