Exchange server 5.5

By mcoya ·
I would like to know of a configuration or better yet white paper that will explain how to configure exchange server to periodically download emails from an outsourced POP3 server to an internal exchange server. From there i will filter and redistribute the mail to the appropriate user.
Any suggestion will be helpfull

The first thing you need is a prog called popsetup.exe. Its from microsoft, but I can't recall where on the site it is. You'll have to search.

It is basically a connector who's specific role is to download emails from a POP3 account and then distribute as usual. There is some docs that come with the file, which i was able to follow - dispite being a novice at the time. So you shouldn't have too much difficuly.

If you cant find the file, reply to this because i think ive still got a copy.......somewhere.

There's some info on it at Technet. Looks like it only works with Small business server not the standard Exchange.

Popsetup.exe only works for SBS and not for the full product. For the full product you will need something from a 3rd party vendor.
When I migrated from our ISP hosted eamil to our inhouse Exchange server I used popbeamer (http://www.popbeamer.com/) it was very easy to configure and worked perfectly.
