Exchange Server accessing Problem

By surveymaster.shivaram ·
We have exchange Server 5.5. We don't have access problem within LAN or Outlook web access. But pop up server and SMTP configured outside LAN can send mail but they can't download mails. What could be the problem.

When using MS Outlook to download messages we get the following:
'Delivering Messages - checking for new messages and sending messages'.
Then the message......'Internet E-mail - The POP3 Server name cannot be found - mail.ourserver.com'.

You need to have an MX record in the dns server you are using. If you dont have your own dns server you will need to ask your ISP to set up the record in their dns server.

You actually need a host or A class record for mail.ourserver.com. One that is accessable to all clients from anywhere you want to access email from the Exchange Server.

adding an A record for mail.ourserver.com will work, but ISP's are slow and I'm impatient...
try changing the Outlook client to use ourserver.com not mail.ourserver.com
this should direct the port 110 calls to the exchange server
