exchange server acts selectively

By algammal ·
I run a computer network in a large newpaper/publishing house,we get e mails from reporters and global correspondents. My exchange server acts weird, some of the e mails are recieved and some are not.Ofcourse I am pretty aware of my block list and spam filters,in fact all the not-recieved emails come from addreses that are on the client's contact list and their messages are regularly recieved no problem.Seems that the mail serve has a mind of its own and decided one day to block those addresses then allow them after a couple of intervention was made by the mail admin.
any inputs on this topic?

The first troubleshootign step would be to have the NDR from the client to study.

The second would be to check the spam and filter list to see if they used a phrase that would cause the message to be rejected.

There aren't enough specifics in your message to offer much assistance.

Dud you do restart exchange services maybe try checking the exchange logs and spam filters like the other guy said.
I would have the person who is sending the email, maybe find out if he gets errors on his side that showing up from your server or could be coming from his.

I would monitor logs most liekly you might see something there.
