We have three Exchange servers in one site. One site is the bridgehead server to the internet. We find that if large emails are sent from the other two sites to the bridgehead server, email stalls and a queue builds up. For example a 8 megabytes email stalled one server for 4 hours. No email was coming in or out from outside. I noticed that event viewer was reporting an RPC communication failure every 10 minutes during the stall. It eventually came back up and the queue was cleared. Is this normal? Can large emails stall an Exchange server for a number of hours?
