Exchange2k/Outlook2k - URGENT

By gregberry ·
I can connect to the Exchange 2000 server through outlook 2000 (if I put in a bad password it tells me) and the names check out ok with the name test. However I cannot send or receive email using outlook 2000. I don't get an error, the screen popsup and goes away. Outgoing mail sits in the outbox.
Please help

Since you mentioned that if you enter the wrong password it tells you, I can tell you can resolve the server's address. What I can't tell, is if you're using the right method. Are you configuring Outlook to connect locally on a LAN, over a WAN, dial-up or the internet? Are you connecting through a firewall? Armed with that info, I think I can be more help, without it it's a tough call.

sounds as though you are useing offline folder setting with the exchange server as your mailserver. when you open outlook it should use your windows user name and password. unless you have things configured as an internet server where everything will stay in the outbox until proper authenication does occure. The errors are generated but there is a red x on the bottom left hand side of the screen. I suguest removeing all profile from outlook and reenter the infomation configuring it as an exchange client and user the local /doamin/windows user name and password. you will not run into as many errors that way.

Before you try anything. Verify that in outlook, that under the tool, accounts or email account, make sure u put in a check where it says "my smtp or outgoing mail server requires authentication. Check this box, put in the userid and password that was assigned by exchange and you should be able to send your mail.
