Exchnge '03 Email Address tab Missing

By jerenzo ·
Platform: - SBS'03, Exchange'03, & Workstation on XP Pro.
Problem: - One of the 3 users on this small network has one primary email address and two other "additional SMTP email addresses" set up in the profile. It is operating fine.
- When I went in to remove the additional SMTP email addresses in AD and Server Mgt. User Profile, the "email address" tab is missing.
- The other three exchange tabs are present.

Troubleshooting done: - I've restarted the services.
- Copied the user and created a new user. The new user's profile has the email address tab.
- One person suggested that the "profile" is currupt. However, I don't know how to rebuild it without loosing the 41,000 emails in the user's folder.

I assume the E-Mail Address tab is being displayed correctly for the other users?

Corruption seems the most likely, but it's difficult to say to be honest as I've never run into that exact problem before.

It's fairly easy to copy the e-mails across to the new profile. I assume you can access the e-mails through Outlook as normal?

How big is the users mailbox? The E-mails could be exported (in Outlook) to a Personal Folder (pst) file which would allow you to import them onto the newly copied profile.

Its important to check the size first because Personal Folder files have a maximum size of 2Gb, this may mean you have to split the e-mails into 2 or more different files.

After you've created the new account (and ensured it has all the necessary e-mails) if you delete the old one you will be able to then alter the X400 Address to match the old one.

Hope this helps a little.

Chris
