Explorer-MS ProgDon'tRun

By birddog3331 ·
?As a lot of these calls for help begin ? ?All of a sudden it started.? This is what happened to me.
All of a sudden Windows XP started not running Microsoft built in programs. Search, Explorer
file listing, Explorer Internet Browser, even Control Panel, My Computer, My Music, My
Pictures and My Documents. When these are attempted I get the message

?Windows Explore
has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.? Then ask if
I want to send a report to Microsoft. When I am ask to see the data that will be sent, the
following is at the top of the report for all programs. The report is very long so I haven?t
included any more of it.

AppName explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0 2800.1106 ModName: flt.dll
ModVer 1.0.0.1 Offset 000036d7

If you are unable to answer this, please advise where to go.

Thanks for your time.

Jim Goodwill

I don't know if you activated XP at install but if you don't at the end of 30 days you can't use windows. Reinstall XP and make sure you activate . If you did, then there is major problems, reinstall anyway.

You may have also run into a virus. I would suggest getting the system checked for viruses or completely rebuild.

If Windows Explorer does not start at all you are pretty much out of luck and would be advised to rebuild.

Try booting into Safe mode and see what happens.

If you can access the control panel in safe mode, try the following.

Remove Internet Explorer from add remove programs/add remove windows components.

Then reboot and reinstall, this sometimesrefreshes the files that are required by Explorer and may fix your problem.

First go here; http://allentech.net/parasite/FlashTrack.html

It is a program (actually a browser add on application, as the flt.dll gives it away) that needs to be removed. Have seen it cause problems before, once removed via add/remove programs then I'd go to; www.lavasoft.com get AAW.exe or Adaware 5.0 and remove any other related spyware on your box. Then finish off by repairing any problems it caused to your IE 6.0 by going to add/remove programs & clicking remove, then repair IE.

Good Luck.

I just read further into the page that tells how to remove the parasitic program, the add/remove item doesn't do it (he say's that it actually doesn't really do anything at all), but there are "Manual Removal Instructions" there to unregister the item...if you are unfamiliar w/ the process, get help and back-up that registry first.

He also say's that there is a removal tool on the offenders (vendors) site but he casts doubt on it's actual effectivness.

Again, Good Luck. Sometimes, I'd rather my box just get a virus than some of the added garbage spyware & helperware out there. (Read Parasites!)

Also, here's the site where the removal tool is located.

Helps to leave the link (it's late!)
http://www.flashtrack.net/install.php

I guess you just click on "Uninstall Now", then after it does it's magic you close & open your browser, but it has to work first. Sue em for the damage I say!!!
