    Exporting Access File

Using Access 2003. Run a query that creates a table with the results. View the table and everything is right. Specifically two fields have numbers (37.4568, -97.34567) with up to 5 digits after the decimal point. When I export the table (to a text file because there are over 250,000 records), the decimal point is trunicated to 2 digits. I have changed the format on the table but did not solve the problem. When I export the wizard shows everything correctly so not sure why it is chopping off some of the digits.

Try exporting it to something other than a text file, see if the problem continues. Do you need all 250,000 records? If not–put in some parameters to return just the record set that you need.

easy fix is to change the field from number to text. When exporting the file the number will be in double quotes and will maintain the number of decimal places. ie “37.4568”,”-97.34567″
