Facebook security code via lost mobile number?
I am being asked to receive a security code on a mobile number that I no longer have access to. I know there are a few ways around this, so this seems to be some sort of glitch in the system. Here’s what I have done so far:
1) I have requested the recovery code be sent to my email. I am able to receive the code and change my password….but once I do this, I am sent to the same old screen which asks me to receive a code on an outdated mobile number.
2) I am logged into my Google account and that option for logging in seems available….but after changing my password, I’m still sent to the same screen requiring me to receive the security code via my old mobile number.
3) I have my trusted contacts set up and I have successfully received codes from them. After doing so, I get a screen which says, “Thank you for successfully proving your identity.” HOWEVER, the next screen is the original screen asking me to receive a security code on an outdated mobile number.
This makes no sense because I can change my password and they even tell me that I have proven my identity….but I still can’t get access to my account. The old phone number is an overseas mobile number that I had to give up when I returned to the US because of this whole COVID-19 thing (I typically work overseas as an expat).
How do I access my account when I can’t receive the sms? It seems like a glitch/bug with the FB system because I’m jumping through all the required hoops except for this stupid mobile number.
Thank you all for any and all help you can offer!
