Hello everyone,

I’ve recently been facing a recurring issue with my Windows PC that I hope to get some insights on. Whenever I attempt to access certain websites, my browser seems to stall, and occasionally, it crashes altogether. This happens regardless of the browser I use (I’ve tested Chrome, Firefox, and Edge).

The error manifests as a “Page Unresponsive” message, and sometimes it’s accompanied by high CPU usage, as shown in the Task Manager. I’ve tried clearing the cache, updating my graphics drivers, and even running a malware scan, but the issue persists.

Interestingly, when accessing these websites from another device, such as a smartphone or a different PC, they load without any issues. This leads me to suspect that there might be a deeper system-specific problem, possibly related to how my Windows OS is interacting with my browser’s rendering engine.

As to your PC, given the story so far there is not enough to guess if it is actually your PC. Then again you find folk still running XP on a Core2Duo.

If it’s the same in a (hardwarewise) comparable PC or laptop, it seems not unlikely it’s an issue with this PC.
Anyway, tell more:
– what (types of) sites are OK and what’s special about these “certain websites”.
– is it only “opening”/”accessing”) the website (the first page) or does it continue during normal further use?
– what specs of PC (CPU, RAM, HDD/SDD and free space, graphic card)

Things to try to see if it’s a software issue:
1. boot into Linux and try Firefox there (it’s free and doesn’t harm anything)
2. do a clean install of Windows and drivers (without adding other software)
If #2 is fine, it’s solved (unless you install interfering software).
If #2 fails, it’s a hardware issue.

If the OP has bugs in their computer, they need an exterminator and not advice on an internet forum.

Based on my knowledge, your system’s window has become corrupt, which is causing this problem. Install a new window, and you won’t face this issue again.

If other devices are able to load these websites without any problems on your Windows PC, then it’s likely that your browser is the culprit. This can be because the browser’s rendering engine is incompatible with your Windows operating system. i would suggest clearing your browser’s cache and cookies, removing any extensions you may be using, or even reinstalling your browser.

Corrupted temporary files can sometimes cause browser issues. Try clearing your browser’s cache, cookies, and browsing history (in addition to clearing the cache you mentioned earlier). You can also search for “temporary files” in the Windows search bar and delete temporary system files
