Failure: Tech Republic Software

By rhodgkinson@tacktraining ·
Just installed your $60 "IT Professional's Guide to Policies and Procedures".

On "opening" all I get is -
"Run Time Error '429'
Active X component can't create object"

I uninstalled, then reinstalled - same message

please advise. Thank you

Failure: Tech Republic Software

by TheChas In reply to Failure: Tech Republic So ...

The Tech Republic staff does not normally respond to questions placed in the Q&A section.

This is a forum for your peers to help you with problems.

I suggest that you start with the Help button at the upper right of most Tech Republic pages, and find a direct e-mail link to the appropriate department.

In the meantime, do you have Active X installed?
Is so, check your security settings. They may be to strict for the software.

Also, are you running a version of Windows that is listed as supported by the software?

during installation, make sure you have access to the system registry (either by way of a power user or administrator account or equivalent). there are activeX components (dlls and similar) that were not properly registered during installation, that's why the program failed to create an instance of that object during execution.
