Fast Onsite Computer Cleaning

I run a small computer repair service. Now I repair all computers at my location using tools such as MalwareBytes, Housecall, CCleaner, Spybot S&D, Defraggler etc. Typically scans can run for hours withthese apps. Has anyone found applications that run quickly? Does the CPU ( Xeon versus i7)have any impact on speed or is it application speed?

The speed of the CPU and amount of RAM installed

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to Fast Onsite Computer Clea ...

Have a impact on how long these tools take to run. Naturally the higher speed CPU and more RAM that the system has the faster it will run a scan like this.

As for faster applications no I have not run across any as all you mention run under Windows and need Windows Running to work. iObit's Smart Derfag runs faster than Defragler but it has it's own problems and may lead to infections of the computer you want to keep clean.

Obviously the best alternative is not to have Windows Running and use a Boot Disc like F Secure to scan the system for infections. But even with something like that it brings it's own issues and is dependent of the hardware you are scanning as to how long it's going to take to run. It may also clean infections which stop Windows from Opening which may not be what you want to achieve. None of the listed Programs is going to do that but by the same token most will not see an infection that will cripple Windows either.

Though there are others which may suit your needs better than F Secure.

Good Thoughts

Thank you,
I use Kaspersky rescue disk to clean systems as well. I like what you had to say and it makes me think. I will use the Xeon with 4 GB of RAM and my cleaning system. Kaspersky takes a while on the system I now use, however, On the Xeon I think it will be much faster.
