Favorites and Cookies

By efharper ·
I am converting a client from Win98 to Win2000 and want to know how to copy their Favorites and Cookies to Win 2000. Is it a simple copy from folder to folder?

well to shift the cookies you have to go to the following folder in the client machine
C:\WINDOWS\Profiles\client name
copy the files to the new location and restart the system.
for the favourites.
C:\windows\favourates (on client machine)
copy it to the new system. And restart and things will take up their place.
all the best

Hi efharper,

The previous post is partially correct, but on Windows 2000 the cookies and favorites go into a different folder than the one from which you copied them in Windows 98.

The appropriate folder to drop them into is:
C:\Documents andSettings\<user name>\
(Each user gets his/her own unique cookies and favorites folder in 2000.

cheers,
dan
