Faxing with broadband ADSL

Windows XP Professional has a fax facility built in. However, the fax wizard does not appear to provide an option for a permanent internet connection using ADSL. During set up it insists upon asking for a dial up number and requesting a modem. Is itpossible to use the permanent connection to send faxes? Further, can other computers connected peer to peer send faxes through the computer to which the ADSL modem is connected?
