File Open in Excel

By cvl ·
I used to be able to type part of a file name in my old Excel and all of the files that matched that part of the file name would appear in the open dialog box. (ie If I have a client I call DOL, and I typed DOL in the open box, all the files with DOL in the file name would appear) I am on another computer with Excel 2003 and when I enter part of a name it just opens the closest match. Is there any way I can use my old procedure.

TIA

Nope..... not unless....

... you can find the 'recently used file' list from the old computer and import it to the new computer.

You see, Excel learns as you use it. The one on the new computer hasn't had a chance to learn yet. Give it time by using File --> Open, then navigating to where your files are stored and open a document. It will eventually respond just like the old computer as it remembers the 'recently opened files'.
