File Print and Sharing

Basically go to start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Network --> and on the first screen you will see a button for "File and Printer Sharing." Click it and place check marks in both files and printers. Then change your ip address to 192.168.1.x with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 (the "x" is to be filled in with a different number 1-254 on each computer). Go to the identification tab and make sure that your workgroup name is the same on all your computers that are going to be within this network. Save and reboot. Repeat for each computer.

After rebooting, go to start --> programs --> Windows Explorer --> and create shares on folders by right-cliking on the folder you want to share and normal-clicking on "share." Give it a name and access rights (full control, read or write), and a password if you want one.

To share printers, goto start --> settings --> Printers --> right-click on the printer and normal-click on share. It should place a hand under it. The computer must be powered on whenever you print to a printer connected to it. If the printer is connected to the network, then that is not an issue.... just install it as a network printer.

WinMe may have a different place for the Network icon, but the basics above will work for win98.

I don't use WinMe computers, but the basics above will work and all your computers should be fine.

Each of the computers need to be connected to a hub or switch.
