File Security

Why does sending, via e-mail, a hyperlink to a secured file within a Domain bypass the security placed on the file at the Server and allow full access to the file? How can the security be maintained when this link is sent? It's the same whether using Outlook or Mail as the e-mail medium.

The file you are refering to has restrictive access, but does the folder the file is in have the same? By default, security is set to Everyone Full access, so even if the file is restricted, the folder may not be? Therefore the hyperlink being putin would have full access until you set specific security on it, or the folder it is placed into.
Just a thought, hope it helps.
