Hi there,
I’ve read many posts pertaining to my question but for the life of me I cannot think what the problem is. Here goes.
I have 2 laptops – for arguments sake called LAPA and LAPB, both running XP Pro but with different service packs, one has SP1 and one has SP3. I want to be able to share c and d drives on both laptops so that I can browse either laptop wirelessly from one to the other. For some reason I can browse LAPB from LAPA but not LAPA from LAPB, it gives an error message of \\LAPA is inaccessible, please check you have the correct permissions. I have tried using simple file sharing, giving full control to the Everyone group and it didnt work, same message. I tried unticking simple file sharing and creating shares of c and d drives and I got the same permissions error message. When I have simple file sharing enabled from time to time i get a username and password box appear, so I enter the username and password of the laptop Im trying to access and yes, you guessed it, the same permissions error message. The weird thing is I can ping both laptops from each other so I know they can see each other but I cannot figure out why the permissions error keeps appearing.
If someone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.
Many thanks
Dan
