File Transfer Manager....where is it?

By gumbytech ·
I keep getting a Microsoft File Transfer Manager error when I try to download from the Internet. When I look for it on My machine I can't find it. Where might I locate it? I am running Win98.

The only thing comes to mind is that Windows update is loading files in the background, open the control panel and disable automatic windows update and select to update files manually

Delete all Temporary Internet Files, delete all *.tmp and reboot. If you still have the problem, then re-install your browser. If you still have a problem, then re-installed Win98 on top of your current installation (any missing files will be replaced).

Depends on what type of file you may be downloading, the explorer may save it in different paths, like c:\my downloads, c:\temp, c:\windows\update\, etc, etc.
But, if the ftp cannot be completed, the file becomes deleted or with a "temporary" file name.
If you think that the file is still there, just use your explorer to search on your pc hard drives for every file created TODAY!
Ypu will see here many files. Windows is updating and creating files all the time...

Most file transfer errors are caused by bad (dirty) connections, modems not set up properly and by low bandwidth. Also, if you are running low on drive space, the file has nowhere to go.

You need to give a little more details on your setup.

Paul.
