Filterkeys screw up, do I have to reinstall Windows?

By cccarloslanda ·
Hi all,

I am working on an XP machine that was fine until Filterkeys was accidentally activated; the computer became erratic and slow. Deactivating every feature from Control Panel/Accessibility, using System Restore, and clearing everything from msconfig/Startup did not help. The computer runs fine in Safe Mode. To Dell, the only alternative seems to be reinstalling Windows; is there anything else to try?

I read every bit of the submissions there and as I got more familiar with Accessibility Options screw-ups I came to realize that I had done everything possible to fix the problem. So, either I was not going to be able to fix it, or some other issue was at play, although my client claims that everything was fine before this happened. I decided that perhaps that was not totally true, so I went back with System Restore as far as I could, restored, and, voila, the machine came back to life! Of course, after celebrating for a while I proceeded to disable every piece, option, check mark, etc of Accessibility Options, so that this never ever happens again!
Thanks for the help!
