Flashing cells in Excel

By dschwer ·
Hello all I am trying to get data within a cell In Excel to blink/flash when a certain objective is reached. For example if the cells formula is measuring price and the price drops below a certain amount I would like the cells data to blink on and off to let me know. Im sure I need to write VBA code for this but am unsure where to start. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Dale

One way to do this is to highlight the cell containing the formula and then go to Format>Conditional Formatting and enter your parameters.
The flashing part may be doable, but it would probably mess up operations. If you want to play with it, look at:
http://www.cpearson.com/excel/events.htm.
Perhaps if you used Worksheet_Calculate and then repeated a color change a number of times, it may work. Here's a quick example.
(Right click the sheet tab and choose View code and then enter this.
Private Sub worksheet_calculate()
If Range("$a$1") = 10 Then
For Flash = 1 To 1000
Range("A1").Interior.ColorIndex = 3
Range("A1").Interior.ColorIndex = 6
Next
End If
End Sub

This assumes that A1 contains a formula that calculates a total, such as =C1+C2. When the total reaches 10 A1 will flash a specific number of times.
