Folder display keeps changing

Every time I open up “My pictures” folder (and others), I have to hit “view” – “details”. Then on the description bar (which includes file name, size, etc) I have to right click to add “date created” and increase the space alotted for name, as wellas change the file order. If I close the folder these changes revert to their original values. I have tried using Lock and unlock toolbars to no avail. How do I give each folder its own settings which will remain until I change them? Thanks in Advance.
