Folder view blank on IE after upg to IE6

I just upgraded IE 5.5 to IE 6. Computer is Pentium 2, 128 MB Ram, Windows 2000 Professional, Office XP. PC worked fine before IE upgrade.

Now the folder view is blank (all grayed out). If I open My Computer and click folders it is blank also.
I tried Add/Remove Programs; it will not even open now. I Installed the IE 6 updates/patches; no change. All window updates installed, no change.

Should I try completely reinstalling IE 6 or go back to IE 5.5? Is reloading Win2k the only solution?

Does anyone know any quick fixes like registry keys that may be corrupt or how to run the IE repair when the Add/Remove will not open?
