Forcing autoarchive of email

By joeys1972 ·
Does anyone know a way of forcing Outlook 2000/2002 to autoarchive based on some global settings, behind the scenes. I have a client that has very strict network policies and they want to archive email without any user intervention. Thanks vfor the help.

Hey Joey

Don't know if this is the answer that ur looking for, u didn't give much details about the current set up but this might help:

Outlook 2002 -

On ur menu bar go to Tools - Options, on the Options screen u'll have 7 tabs, the one 2nd from the end is Other, select that tab. Your 2nd option will be auto archiving, click on the auto archive button, here u'll find all the settings u need for a simple automated auto archive. Just select the frequency of the archive (every how many days) and the file/location. There is an option there to prompt the user before it does an archive, u'll obviously have to leave that un-checked.

Hope this is what u were looking for.

HI,

Since you have mentioned "behined scenes", i could gather that you client may would like to handle this from the server end itself, there is a utility called MAILBOX MANAGER in exchange's resource kit.

You can install it in the server and perform the autoarchival option at a one go for all the mailboxes without disturbing the client.

(THIS MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE IF YOUR CLIENT DOWNLOADS ALL THEIR MAIL INTO THEIR OUTLOOK'S PST, IN THIS CASE YOU MAY HAVE REFER THE ABOVE RECOMMENDATION)
