Forgotten Excel File Solution

Hi, someone posted opening a new SS and type = (lockedss.xls)sheet1$a$1 and cell A1 and saving in the same folder as the file. I’ve tried this but don’t know what to do next. Also found another poss solution whereby you use powerpoint to view contents of file – can’t get that one going either.
