Formatted PC wont boot from CD

So i was surfing the web the other day and found a DIY project, it was how to make our own personal home server out of any old desktop PC laying around. I told my friend about since he is in a networkign class as the technical college we both go to and he did it without a problem runs things fine and uses unbuntu server systems. So i then found out that my dad had and old Desktop that he wasnt using so i asked f i could use it he agreed and i then cleaned the HDD with Hiren Boot CD and it worked fine i now have very clean hard drive. The problem is when i went to go to put the iso of ubuntu server onto the machine through the use of booting from a disc it would not boot and gives me the error "DISK BOOT FAILURE. INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER'. ive tried editing the BIOS and telling it to use the cd drive and ive used 3 disc now to see if that was the issue. None of these things have helped and i wanted to knwo if theres anyone who is either had this problem or is more knowledgeable totell me what im doing wrong.

~thank you,
