Formatting in Excel using Macros

I am currently on student placement within a company and have been asked to produce reports from their existing Information System which holds sales figures etc. I have to export data from the I.S. into Excel – however much formatting is required each time. Is there some way of doing this automatically? Type of formatting= cell width adjustment etc, as well as calculations / sub-totals…
