Forwarding attached e-mail

By k_grg ·
Is it posssible to forward an e-mail ( in Exchange 5.5) that has an attachment, i.e. excel? I have tried several times, but only the mail gets forwarded( not the attached file). However, I had no problem forwarding a file with html extention. ANY HELP/SUGGESTION?

Thanks

If you've loaded any M$ patches for security, then they will probably not allow you to forward or even recieve any attachments that can be executed, ie. exe, bat, com, doc, xls, you get the picture.
The only other thing I can think of is that there is a setting somewhere that says something like, Don't forward attachments, or Don't forward attachments of type 'x'. I don't know what you're using for a mail program, so I don't really have any more ideas.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Exchange definitely has the ability to forward an e-mail with an attachment but whether it will do so is determined by the mail client.

If you could re-post with your client information (Exchange client, Outlook97, Outlook98, Outlook2000, Outlook Web Access, etc.), someone on this forum will probably have your answer.

You might try changing the outgoing format for the item to plain text. That's going to give you the greatest compatibility with your recipients' mail programs.

FYI, the Outlook E-mail Security Update blocks forwarding of .exe, .com, .mdb and other files that Microsoft considers "dangerous," but does not affect mosts document files such as .doc and .xls files.
