Forwarding emails in Exchange 5.5

By msenia ·
I would like the ability to forward emails from a user account on our Exchange 5.5 server to a user on another email system (not in our GAL). Is this possible?

yes setup a custom recipient with the smtp address pointing to the account in the other system, then on the account in your system select the mail box in the admin console, then select the delivery tab, then the select delivery to alternate recipient, make sure that the deliver to both is also selected
hope this helps

If you don't want your users to see the Custom Recipient, you can hide it.

You MUST add the user as an alternate recipient BEFORE you hide it. Otherwise you won't see the recipient to add it as an alternate. But, after it is added, you can hideit and it will not affect the forwarding. I use this myself and it works.

If your user is created as a Custom Recipient you can create their account as an 'Internet Address' (the address to be forwarded to) and then add additional addresses (the addresses to be forwarded from). All the additional addresses will be forwarded on to the Internet address the account is created with.

The other possibility is to use the FULL x.400 address for the user. You can send to hidden email account or other systems/sites using it.

Its been a bit, but I think you need to go into raw mode to get the full address for an Exchange user ifyou don't know it yourself. The x.400 isn't "complete" on the email address tab of the user. (I could be wrong here on this part!)
